We went to Pizza il Naturale for the wine, but let more impressed with the pizzas. They were doing brisk business with the lunch crowd, but we were quickly shuffled over to a table and delivered a loaf of bread which only minutes before had been hanging out in the open ovens at the rear of the restaurant.

Hotel du Nord (10eme)

My attention was first drawn to the black and white tiled floor, which looked so perfect that I cannot understand why every bar isn’t doing it. After an appreciative nod I took in the rest of the bar; it looks like a bar should. The interior of the Hotel du Nord could give lessons to other bars who need help sprucing up their interior.

The Long Hop (5eme)

Rumor has it that a small Parisian child with a fistful of euros is able to procure both a pack of cigarettes and vintage bottle of red if such vices are at the direction of a parent (the presence of who need not be required). L’Entrepôt (14eme)

One quickly notices that L’Entrepôt is a chimera of sorts. The restaurant / bar / cinema / concert venue appears to be an experiment by the owners to roll up all things pure and good under one roof in hopes of never setting foot on the Parisian sidewalks again. They even boast a pleasant outdoor patio! The only thing missing is a Monoprix, but perhaps that’s in the works.

Café de France (13eme)

Café de France opens its doors to the Place d’Italie down in the 13eme. Place d’Italie is a traffic circle, which means if you sit outside it can be quite noisy. However, it’s also a convergence of three metro lines and a shopping mall appropriately named Centre Commercial Italie…so it’s noisy, but with an entertaining pedestrian landscape.
