We found ourselves in this part of the 11th looking for the Clown Bar, a recommended drinking hole next to the winter circus. What we found, however, was a sinister foreshadowing. The note on the door simply said that it would reopen in September. Not easily beaten, Christian and I immediately regrouped and found the nearest place selling wine by the bottle.

While Les Bas Fonds is really a restaurant, it was at least 11 by the time we arrived and there was an available outdoor table. The place still had a good number of boisterous regulars, all in high spirits, likely well into their after dinner drinks. The wait staff was quite nice and the wine was nice. The food we saw looked good and I definitely wouldn’t mind coming back to give it a try.
