Subject: A Velib Wine Bar Crawl, Part II
Greetings -
Friday will soon be upon us, and that is a great reason to once again drink a bottle or four of wine and ride one around on some Parisian public transportation. There are four locations, and here is a map courtesy of our friends at Google!
Here is the schedule, so if you are interested in coming out you can either join up for all or just part of it. Feel free to forward on!
1. L’Entrepôt@ 9 PM
7, Rue Francis de Pressensé
75014 Paris, France
2. La Beliere Welcome @ 1030 PM
74, Rue Daguerre
75014 Paris, France
3. Au Sai Sai @ MIDNIGHT
4, Rue Sainte Beuve
75006 Paris, France
4. The Long Hop @ WHENEVER, IF THERE IS TIME
25, Rue Frédéric Sauton
75005 Paris, France
And thus the reason Dan and I found ourselves sitting in the front room of L’Entrepôt (English: The Warehouse) on a fine Friday night in August on the cusp of a second Velib pub crawl. L’Entrepôt had been suggested by a mutual Spanish friend, who lives in the 14eme. I don’t remember why he recommended it, but as Dan and I typically had been choosing bars rather blindly throughout the Great Parisian Plate Debate process we welcomed the suggestion.
One quickly notices that L’Entrepôt is a chimera of sorts. The restaurant / bar / cinema / concert venue appears to be an experiment by the owners to roll up all things pure and good under one roof in hopes of never setting foot on the Parisian sidewalks again. They even boast a pleasant outdoor patio! The only thing missing is a Monoprix, but perhaps that’s in the works.
You’ll notice in the Sancerre bottle photo that Dan looks slightly upset and I look startled. I would like to stress that this has nothing to do with L’Entrepôt. Rather, Dan’s expression may be explained by my earlier attempt to play Counting Crows’ “Colorblind” on L’Entrepôt’s in-house piano, while my wide eyes are a result of the bizarre egg-based appetizer that Dan had ordered upon arrival at L’Entrepôt.
