It’s August in Paris. This means that with little to no warning, restaurants, bars and shops all close for up to the entire month. With most Parisians escaping the city on their annual holiday, it’s not just a much needed break, it’s also financially sound. More importantly, this is France where it’s a veritable institution. So what happens when you arrive at your intended bar and there’s a sign saying it’s closed for the next three weeks? Le Plan B.
We were on the second Velib Bar Crawl, and Christian and I had fallen a bit behind schedule. We got a call from people that were meeting us at the next bar. It was closed so they had gone to the closest place that looked interesting—Le Plan B.
When we showed up they had already drank half the bottle, but we still got a taste of the place. There was a fun mural on the wall, and cool posters tacked up all around. It was an interesting little place; we certainly could have done worse for a plan b.
