Le Rendez-Vous des Amis is a neighborhood dive situated high up in Montmartre. Just a few minute walk from the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, it is happily free of the throngs of tourists little more than a flight of stairs away. Recommended by a work friend, this bar was part of our final rush to complete the challenge, so we were unfortunately unable to linger. Even so, I liked what I saw.

Honest, refreshingly unpretentious and cheap, the ceiling of the inside is covered with photos of friends and regulars, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. In an area where far too many bars are either sleazy or designed for tourists, it’s definitely a place I’d like to go back and check out again.
